Prince de Courthezon Cotes du Rhone 2009

The Mark of a Star Winemaker Star winemaker Thierry Ferlay is one of the winemakers who have managed to stamp their mark on the wine making industry. Very many people from far and wide have given him accolades for the mere fact that amongst the numerous talented and acclaimed wine makers, his products continue to be a huge hit. The Prince de Courthezon Cotes du Rhone 2009 is one of those products that was made at the famous Cellier des Princes and it is one of those that have actually gone on to become a house hold name.

Moving from 2007 to 2009

It may have seemed like 2007 would turn out to be a very spectacular year in winemaking and maybe it was. However, 2009 was a year that presented several new twists and turns among which was the Prince de Courthezon Cotes du Rhone 2009 that turned out to be a real hit. Applauded by people like Andrew Jefford an international columnist along with several other wine experts, this wine is seen as a real blockbuster because it created a whole new picture about the year 2009. After seeing the various beautiful and spectacular wines that had come forth in 2007, it almost seemed certain that such a high standard would not be met again; until this wine emerged.

Making the Wine

The wine uses the same blend of Syrah, Grenache along with Mourvèdre to create just the perfect outcome of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wine is also taken through a similar process of preparation, almost like a ritual, just to make sure it is just as wonderful. Unlike other wines, this wine has the Côtes-du-Rhône label because the grapes that are used in its manufacture are actually grown a little over the appellation border. At the end of it all, this wine also carries the advantage that it comes at a very pocket friendly price, which is one of the reasons why many people have preferred it to many other wines.

Prince de Courthezon Cotes du Rhone 2009 has a somewhat thick and distinct taste that is sweet and uniquely dense. Since the wine is made from fruits that are tendered well and looked after with extreme care and precision, it is no surprise that the emerging product is rather smooth and very perfect for the very traditional and particular wine lover. For anyone who has a well planned barbecue, this wine would be the perfect compliment seeing as it tastes very wonderful with well prepared beef, mature cheeses as well as several other dishes.
