Phoenix Ranch Syrah 2005 California

In 2006, Failla Wines turned grapes from the Phoenix family’s tiny, 5-acre plot into a headline-making Syrah – named Wine Enthusiast’s No.1 in their Top 100 of 2008 (“awesome, major league” stuff). It’s in high demand, but not cheap (today, what few bottles remain could cost you as much as $55).

Now, thanks to our buyer Nick’s tireless efforts, you can enjoy the Phoenix family’s personal 2005 – at less than half that price.

A year before Failla came on the scene, the Phoenix family tapped their friend (and Napa legend) Cathy Corison to turn the Syrah from that same hallowed vineyard into a special bottle just for them. The results: Delicious, particularly since 2005 was an exceptional vintage in Napa: “Excellent everywhere, with intense, structured, high quality wines.” (Wine Spectator)

This bottle will be excellent with everything: a sure-fire hit at family barbecues or picnics. But order soon, before they’ve all been spoken for.

Lavender and plums on the nose, with a touch of smoky bacon. A dash of Viognier for lift. Deep plum and cassis fruit, notes of wild game and spice. Awesome power.
